Twin Spectacled Bears Celebrate 2nd Birthday at Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm

14th Jun 2016

Beni and Tuichi tucked into a tasty treat as their keepers surprised them with a special bear-friendly cake to celebrate.

Amid the playful antics and festivities, their presence is also a testament to the ongoing commitment to the conservation of these incredible creatures.

Our bears at Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm play dual roles in the realm of conservation. They contribute significantly to the international breeding program, ensuring the protection of the spectacled Bear species. Additionally, they serve as ambassadors, enlightening our visitors about the species' significance, its habitat needs, and the urgency of conservation. By rallying behind this cause, we strive to secure the existence of this vulnerable species for generations to come.

At the heart of our conservation efforts is a groundbreaking project spearheaded by the Spectacled Bear Conservation (SBC). This initiative aims to unravel the mysteries of how wild bears navigate and engage with their habitats in and around the Machu Picchu Historic Sanctuary. Deploying state-of-the-art GPS tracking collars, each costing $5,000, the project provides a captivating "bear's-eye view" into their daily lives, offering invaluable insights into habitat usage.
