Happy 11th Birthday to Seth the Siamang Gibbon!
7th Jul 2025
Today we’re celebrating a very special primate... Seth the Siamang gibbon, who’s turned 11 years old!
Seth lives at Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm alongside fellow gibbons Elwood and Beatrice in our purpose-built Gibbon habitat. Known for his distinctive whooping calls (often heard echoing across the zoo!) and playful spirit, Seth is a much-loved member of our primate group.
To mark the occasion, our Primate and Small Mammal team treated him to a birthday surprise, including some of his favourite enrichment and tasty treats – all designed to stimulate Seth and keep him active.
Siamang gibbons are the largest of the gibbon species, instantly recognisable by their long arms, throat sacs (which help amplify their calls!), and boundless energy.
Next time you visit the zoo, make sure to stop by the Gibbon habitat. With a bit of luck, you might see Seth swinging through the trees, taking part in a training session, or joining Elwood and Beatrice in a chorus of whoops!
Happy Birthday, Seth 🎂
