Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm Announces the Passing of Kojo, the African Lion
7th May 2025
Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm is deeply saddened to announce the passing of Kojo, one of our male African lions. After his keepers noticed he wasn’t himself, Kojo was closely monitored by our dedicated keeper and veterinary teams. Sadly, in spite of veterinary treatment, his condition worsened, and the compassionate decision was made to put him to sleep. A post-mortem later confirmed he was experiencing organ failure.
Kojo was a much-loved animal here at the Zoo. He was one of two cubs born to mother, Arusha, at Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm in 2018, and quickly became known for his confident and bold personality.
Emma Ogborne, Kojo’s lead keeper shared, “We are deeply saddened by the loss of Kojo, he was a big personality in our pride, and he will be missed. Kojo inspired thousands of visitors and helped raise awareness about the challenges facing lions in the wild.”
Kojo’s loss is deeply felt by the entire team at Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm and by the many members and visitors who came to know and admire him. We invite you to share your memories and photographs of Kojo as a celebration of his life.
