The start of February sees our new season roar into life at Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm

We’ve had a quieter month in January, opening on Saturdays only, and we’re looking forward to meeting more of our lovely visitors in the busy weeks ahead! As of this Saturday, Noah’s Ark in Wraxall, near Bristol, is open full time, Monday to Saturday from 10.30am to 5pm all year through to December 20. We’ve got lots of new things to explore this year and want to help our visitors make the most of every moment at Noah’s Ark. From a new male reindeer to meet through to our revamped daily schedule of events, there’s plenty on offer. Our public facilities have also had an upgrade for 2014. We’ve extended our café, added more toilets and improved mobility access in play areas making Noah’s Ark even more user-friendly for visitors. Your feedback each season is important to us as these facility improvements have come from listening to our visitors' suggestions and requests!

We’re hoping to welcome lots of little learners to the zoo this year, having recently earned a top Quality Badge for our educational programmes. This award from the Learning Outside the Classroom (LOtC) scheme celebrates the excellent education visiting school groups receive here, which combines National Curriculum based learning with animal workshops. For more information about our school trips or to book a visit get in touch with the Noah’s Ark team online or on 01275 852606.

And following hot in the heels of our Quality Badge for education and the recent Gold in the Green Tourism Business Scheme (GTBS) February might have more accolades in store for us as we’ve been shortlisted for a number of awards at the Bristol Tourism and Hospitality Awards! Noah’s Ark is in the running for Large Visitor Attraction of the Year, Access for All, Tourism Experience of the Year for our Zookeeper Experiences and the Sustainable Tourism Award. These annual awards from Destination Bristol will be announced at the final on Monday, February 17, so keep your fingers crossed for the Noah’s Ark team. Winners go on to represent Bristol in the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence in 2014, so there’s a chance to promote our fantastic city on a national platform.

Our ever popular parents and toddler group Jungle Tots restarts on Monday, February 3. Jungle Tots meets from 10.30am to 12pm every Monday during term time, offering free play in the Jungle Den soft play area, a themed activity and the chance to meet one of the zoo’s animals. We’ll be kicking off this year’s sessions with a session making aquariums out of paper plates. Tea, coffee and cake is provided for free and sessions include entrance to the zoo in the afternoon. The group itself is free for season ticket holders – one of the many perks of annual zoo membership. Do you visit more than four times a year? For the same cost you could buy a season ticket and enjoy unlimited access, special offers and be the first to find out exciting Noah’s Ark news. You’ll also be able to visit as soon as our elephants arrive, which we expect to be this spring. We’re close to confirming the date and will have more details very soon.

For the meantime, the inside of our mighty Elephant House can be viewed during the daily Keeper-guided tours at 12.30pm and 3.30pm. Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm is open from Monday – Saturday, 10:30am – 5pm.
