Dwarf Mongoose
Scientific Name: Helogale parvula
The dwarf mongoose, or Helogale parvula, is Africa's smallest carnivore and the tiniest member of the mongoose family. These highly social mammals live in tight-knit family groups of up to 30 individuals, led by a dominant breeding pair. Native to sub-Saharan Africa, they feed mainly on insects and make their homes in abandoned termite mounds.
The Dwarf Mongoose is classified as Least Concern on the ICUN Red List of Threatened Species.
