Role: West Section Volunteer

Minimum age: 21 years +

Length of placement: 6 months

An opportunity has arisen for a motivated individual to join our committed and friendly team of volunteers.

We welcome applications from candidates with a keen interest in animal husbandry and conservation. Candidates should also be able to demonstrate that they are team orientated, hardworking, proactive, and positive in their attitude to all tasks.

This placement will mainly be based around our Viva South America exhibit, but there may be the opportunity to gain experience with the other species on section. Candidates will be required to always follow safe working practices and security protocols when working around Category 1 dangerous animals.

This is a one day a week voluntary position lasting 6 months working from 8am until 5pm (winter hours may vary).

· Lowland Tapirs

· Capybara

· Mara

· Six-banded Armadillo

· Andean Bears

· African Lions

· Tiger

· Giant Anteater

· Ring-tailed Coatis

· Poison Dart Frogs

Day to day tasks

· Assisting keepers with daily cleaning

· Preparation of animal diets

· Creating enrichment

· Collecting and providing browse
