Conservation Volunteers

Day: 1st Monday of the Month

Time: 11-4pm ( 1 hrs lunch break)

Length of placement: On going

Number of volunteers: 3-5

The role of our conservation volunteers is to help us fulfil the aims of the NAZF’s conservation strategy with regards to the zoo native species and habitats that we have on site and in our local area.

Volunteers with be working alongside a variety of staff members to help manage, monitor and enhance the native habitats we have on site.

Roles and responsibilities include:

· Identifying, survey, monitoring and recording of fauna and flora species found on site.

· Management of our native habitats, removal of invasive species, re-planting, protecting species

· Creating new wildlife habitats such and wildflowers meadow.

· Creating wildlife mini habitats, bug hotels wildlife gardens

· Building and fixing and installing of wildlife boxes

· Husbandry of species bred for native reintroduction (potentially in the future)

· Sewing and planting of native plant species

You will also have the opportunity to meet new people who also enjoy conserving our native wildlife, spend time outdoors in a stunning part of the North Somerset countryside.

Please note you will not be working directly with the zoo animals.

This position is focused on the native wildlife we have on the zoo grounds.
