Conservation Volunteers
Day: 1st Monday of the Month
Time: 11-4pm (1 hr lunch break)
Length of placement: ongoing
Number of volunteers: 3-5
Our Conservation Volunteer role will help the Zoo fulfil the aims of the NAZF’s conservation strategy regarding the native species and habitats we have on site and in our local area.
Volunteers will be working alongside a variety of staff members to help manage, monitor and enhance the native habitats we have on site.
Roles and responsibilities include:
· Identifying, surveying, monitoring and recording of fauna and flora species found on site
· Management of our native habitats, removal of invasive species, re-planting, species protection
· Creating new wildlife habitats such as wildflower meadows
· Creating wildlife mini habitats, bug hotels and wildlife gardens
· Building, fixing and installing wildlife boxes
· Husbandry of species bred for native re-introduction (potentially in the future)
· Sowing and planting of native plant species

You will have the opportunity to meet new people who also enjoy conserving our native wildlife, spending time outdoors in a stunning part of the North Somerset countryside.
Please note you will not be working directly with the Zoo animals.
This position is focused on the native wildlife we have on the Zoo grounds.
