Celebrate Mothers’ Day in both the human and animal kingdoms!

4th Mar 2016

We love celebrating Mothers’ Day here at Noah’s Ark – and we don’t just mean sending our own mums some well-earned flowers and taking them out for lunch; we also celebrate all the wonderful, caring and devoted mums in the animal kingdom, too. Trust us when we say that having watched our loving animal mums take care of their (seriously cute) little ones, we know they’re just as selfless and dedicated as any human mum out there. So this Sunday we think mothers of all kind – the two-legged and the four-legged – deserve some kind of reward.

And there are a lot of happy mums all across the zoo at the moment. The spring baby-boom has already started and there are plenty more mums-to-be waiting to pop over the next few weeks. We've got piglets, lambs, baby capybara and kids (as in baby goats) to name but a few of our latest arrivals, all keen to welcome guests. And if you visit this Mothers’ Day you can download a special £5 entry voucher from our website for mums and grans alike. Why not make a weekend of it?

English Tourism Week It just so happens that this week is also English Tourism Week, starting on the 5th and ending on the 13th. We’re helping to highlight the quality visitor experiences provided by English tourism sites across the country during this week-long celebration. A number of events are running across England, showcasing the best of the best when it comes to visitor experiences and the value of the industry. In fact, the English tourism sector supports 2.6 million jobs and is the third largest employment sector. It helps to generate up to £106 billion a year for the economy and supports thousands of businesses and charities – so we’re obviously keen to show our support and further highlight the fantastic jobs done by those involved in the tourism industry country-wide.

This celebration comes just in time as it not only coincides with Mothers’ Day and the arrival of spring, but also the final preparations for our latest exhibit: the arrival of two Andean bears. Although our full spectacled bear habitat won’t be open for another few weeks, we’re ramping up coverage of exactly what’s happening on our Facebook page during this exciting time, so be sure to stay tuned; we’re bear-ly able to contain our excitement!

And it’s not just mothers and grandmothers who can take advantage of our amazing discount – as part of the English Tourism Week, we’re also offering 2-for-1 admission so that everyone can experience the magic of what’s on offer here in the South West – find the discount voucher here.
