Highland are a popular breed of Scottish beef cattle.
They thrive in the colder climate of the North. They have recently become popular in the south for their shaggy good looks.
A cow is pregnant for 9 months 8 days (283 days) and can have a calf each year for up to 15 years from 2 years old.
There are wide differences in the Bovine family which contains cattle, sheep, goats and wildebeests. All are ‘ruminants’.
