Wanda, Wally, Wendy, Roo & Will

Wallabies are small Kangaroos - the only difference is their size. An adult Kangaroo below 22kg and with 25cm sized feet or less is a Wallaby.

The white wallabies are albinos. Wanda is quite shy and nervous.

Kangaroos have an amazing way of moving unlike any other animal. They hop, like a bouncing ball, and every time they hit the ground 70% of the energy is stored in their tendons (part of the legs). Humans only store 20% of the energy.

The kangaroos always hop at the same rate per minute but lengthen the hop if they are in a hurry. Kangaroos can increase from a leisurely 5ft to as much as 27ft when being chased.

Baby Wallabies and Kangaroos are born only the size of a grain of rice, and with an amazing built-in navigation system, climb up the outside of the mother along a line which she licks from the birth canal to her pouch. This takes about 2 hours (any longer and they die!). There, the babies mouth finds one of 4 nipples and attachs onto it very tightly.

The pouch has water-proof sealing 'lips'.
