Leopard Geckos are the most popular pet geckos in captivity. They are easy to look after, docile, beautiful and move slowly. They rarely bite and don't mind being handled.
They all have claws on their feet without the addition of setiferous hands and feet (with millions of hairs that hold by molecular attraction), so they can't climb glass.
Their name comes from both their appearance and hunting methods. They stalk insects like a cat and even wag their tails just before pouncing.
Leopard geckos have eyelids that move, unlike any other gecko, but they still clean their eyes with their tongue like other geckos.
A leopard gecko will attract a female by drumming his tail on the ground and she will respond by wagging her tail silently. The male then licks and bites the female from the tail up to her head - if she is not interested, she bites him back! The female lays one or two eggs every month through the breeding season (Januray-October).
