During the classroom sessions there will be a selection of live animals available to hold and touch. The 45 minute workshops are interactive and fun - everything learning and education should be! All this for just £30.
We also have the facilities to offer practical classes where students can learn how to study animal behaviour and welfare and can gain valuable experience in presenting their findings to classmates.
This workshop will introduce pupils to ethology - the science of behaviour. Studying behaviour in both domestic and wild species is fundamentally important in advancing our understanding of them; it also helps us to look after animals and provide for their needs appropriately.
We also have post visit Animal Behaviour Worksheets that you can download here.
From the moment they are born, animals are constantly learning in response to the environment around them. This workshop will cover imprinting, habituation and the differences between classical and operant conditioning.
Zoos have an important role to play in education, conservation and research, as well as providing entertainment. A good zoo must promote excellent animal welfare too. Students will learn about all this plus what can happen when zoos fail to provide what an animal needs
Knowing how food is produced is vital if we are to make informed decisions about what we buy and why. Making responsible and ethical decisions as consumers can have a massive impact on the way animals are farmed. This workshop encourages students to make sure they have the information they need to make those decisions.
We hear about the environmental issues facing our planet every day and we are encouraged to make greener choices in our day to day lives. This workshop unpacks some of those issues and looks at the changes we can all make to do our part as responsible citizens.
