Key Stage 1 Workshops

The workshops are designed to be interactive, fun and educational. Sessions are of 30 minutes duration and take place in our indoor classroom which accommodates up to 30 pupils.

If you would like a workshop based on a specific theme then please contact the education department to discuss further details. The workshops are excellent value at just £20 per session!


Adaptation and Habitats

What is an animal habitat? What kind of habitats do animals live in? How do they cope with the weather? How do they find food? How do they escape their predators? All these questions and more are answered through the use of live animals and interactive tasks.

African Animals

rhinoNoah's Ark has a wide variety of African animals. So before and after this session there are lotsofopportunities to familiarise pupils with African animals.
The workshop focusses on where different animals are located in Africa as well as looking at the various habitats and regions that are found there. Pupils have the chance to get hands-on with a selection of African animals. Come and experience a taste of Africa!

Variation

There is huge variety in the animal kingdom. This session introduces the concept of variation through fun, interactive activites such as 'spot the difference' between corn snakes!! Variation can only truly be seen by being up-close and hands on with the animals. This workshop offers exactly that! Pupils will learn how to group living things according to similarities and differences, from fur to feathers and skin to scales.

Feeding Relationships

Food, feeding and food chains are popular areas of the National Curriculum. Here pupils learn about what types of food animals eat and how they are suited to eating it through hands-on experience.

Lifecycles

With the use of live animals, children will be able to observe differences and similarities between the stages of life. How does a caterpillar undergo thetransformation into a beautiful butterfly? Students will explore the incredible changes animals go through from babies to adults and learn about the different types of parental care. From the soft jelly eggs of frogs to the birth of chicks, students will examine the stages of growth and learn of amazing and unique life cycles.

Animal Babies

Chick

Learn about different animal babies and how they're cared for. Meet some of our animals and discover how they reproduce and how they look after their young. This session displays how an animals needs are catered for at different stages of it's life and development. Come and hold the newly hatched chicks as an ideal way to reinforce workshop teaching.
