Sustainable Transport to and from Noah's Ark
As part of our committment to green practises at Noah's Ark, we think everyone should make sensible decisions about the transport they choose to use.
Although cars are useful, and necessary for many of us as we commute to and from places of work - there are times when we can all make use of a local bus service or jump on our bike to make shorter journeys.
Noah's Ark has been successful in encouraging its staff to car-share and cycle to work - a recent survey conducted amongst our workforce showed:
47% car-share on their journey to and from work
14% cycle
14% walk
5% use the local bus service
Travelling by Bus
After public demand for a bus stop to be created directly outside our zoo entrance, the local council and bus service approved the request a few years ago - visitors now benefit from the Bristol - Clevedon 361 First Bus service, which stops regularly outside Noah's Ark.
We encourage you to consider using the 361 bus service if travelling from Bristol City Centre, or from Clevedon in North Somerset - a reliable and comfortable alternative to using your car.
Please click here for the current bus timetables for the 361 First Bus route.
N.B. Noah's Ark is currently investigating a possible ticket offer in conjunction with First Group, providers of the local bus services. Please check this page for an update on discounts available to those using public transport.
Travelling by bicycle
Noah's Ark has recently installed a new, secure bicycle shed at the bottom of the car park closest to the Ticket Office. The roofed storage area can be used in conjunction with personal bike chains or D-locks. (Like cars, bikes are left at the owners risk).
Visitors arriving by bicycle may shortly be eligible for a reduced zoo entry ticket - currently under review by management at Noah's Ark. Please keep visiting this page for further updates.
Engine switch off policy
With around 15,000 school children arriving mainly by bus and coach at Noah's Ark each year, we have an 'engine switch off' policy in place with clear signage instructing drivers to switch off their vehicles when unloading children at the Ticket Office before they return to park in designated coach bays.
A fuel spill kit is also available in the car park in case of vehicle accidents or breakages where fuel or oil is split - a quick method to reduce the environment impact of chemical leaks.
