Conservation at Noah's Ark
We are privileged to be able to provide a home for endangered species here at Noah's Ark and we realise the importance of conservation in protecting numbers both in natural habitats and in captivity.
As a large and popular visitor attraction in a rural area, we also need to go about our business in an environmentally and socially responsible manner, ensuring we manage our energy use and waste production and look after local wildlife.
Noah's Ark therefore looks to protect and manage important animals in captivity, as well as focusing on our local native environment; conserving it for future generations.

Success in captivity
We believe that by offering well-designed, clean and spacious enclosures to endangered animals here in the zoo we are contributing to helping maintain healthy populations of captive animals, which are otherwise unable to be released back into the wild. This provides us with an opportunity to educate the public about the threats faced by such species along with general information about habitat and biology.
We have Bengal Tigers, Gibbons and Lemurs here which are all classified as endangered on the IUCN Red List. Black and White Ruffed Lemurs are critically endangered. Our White Rhino are also classed as 'threatened'.
Displaying endangered species to the public
At Noah's Ark we encourage people to see animals first-hand, raise awareness about ecology and hopefully encourage charitable support for related conservation projects. But we take the physical and emotional welfare of our animals seriously and put this before the demands of enthusiastic visitors.
Local Conservation
We are committed to protecting our local environment by considering our use of energy, our management of waste and the variety of native plants and animals which share our site.

Noah's Ark Zoo Farm gained the Silver Award from the Green Tourism Business Scheme in November 2009 in recognition of our substantial efforts to be sustainable.
Green Business is the highly regarded organisation assessing the green credentials of businesses nationwide, conducting periodic audits to monitor progress.
Noah's Ark looks to manage and protect local wildlife, minimize and recycle waste, save energy and communicate our activities to the public. We have joined an elite group of businesses in the South West who have achieved a score over 65% in what has become the most widely recognised green award system in the UK.
