Here at Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm our recognised work experience placements are very popular and in high demand.
A work experience placement with Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm is varied and involves some of the following:
- To assist with the care of a range of exotic animals
- To assist zoo keepers with food preparation
- To assist with the maintenance of animal enclosures
- To help feed and water the animals
- To assist with food/substrate deliveries as required
- To deal politely with visitor enquiries
- To assist with any enrichment or animal encounters if necessary!

- Any other duties as required
At the Zoo you will be working with both the public and the animals in a busy, but exciting environment. As a student, you need to be:
- hardworking, polite, enthusiastic and ready to get stuck in!
- have an interest in animals (but no specialist knowledge is required)
- have good communication skills
- show job dedication
- able to work independently
- able to follow instructions effectively
The work is physically demanding, so work experience students will be expected to work hard whilst on a placement, whatever the weather. However, we want you to have fun too, and many activities are enjoyable and rewarding, getting you working closely with a variety of amazing animals.
Students need to be at the Zoo at 9am and ready for work. Before applying you must consider how you will get to the zoo on time during your placement, particularly if you are relying on public transport.
The Zoo is a no smoking area and we retain the right to cancel a placement at any time. We ask facial piercings to be removed before work due to health and safety. The program is voluntary and unpaid.
If you know the dates you are available please send an email or telephone the Work Experience Coordinator to find out if these dates are free.
To apply for a Work Experience place please download an application form and write to us at Noah's Ark, addressing your mail for the attention of Catherine Trickett Tisdall.
Please be advised you must be CRB (Criminal Record Bureau) cleared before starting at the Zoo if you are over 16. Please allow a minimum of 8 weeks before your placement for a CRB check to be completed.
