Ponds contain a wide variety of plant species, including large plants which can often be fully submerged, floating plants and plants rooted around the outside of the pond. There area also many invertebratess living in the pond along with birds and fish. The different areas of the pond are ideal habitats for different organisms, for example the bottom of the pond is suitable for organisms that are adapted to low levels of oxygen. The scrub around the pond is ideal for nesting places for ducks.
